Launch of Children Helping Children Heal
The Immigrant Women’s Support Service received one–off funding under the Early Years Services (Sector Support), Department of Education and Training for the development of an online multilingual, and culturally appropriate resource to support young children affected by domestic violence. The resource also seeks to support and strengthen parent-child relationships during or following the trauma of living with domestic violence.
The Children Helping Children Heal animation videos were officially launched on 8 September 2017 by Ms Jenny Shaw Executive Director, Programs and Services, Early Childhood and Community Engagement representing the Hon Kate Jones MP, Minister for Education, and Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Commonwealth Games. The launch was attended by community members and service providers who provided positive feedback on the resources.

Domestic Violence Taskforce
In August, the Premier announced a special taskforce to review domestic and family violence in Queensland, chaired by the Honourable Quentin Bryce AD CVO. The chair of the taskforce has been asked to provide a report to the Premier by the end of February 2015 with recommendations to inform the development of a domestic and family violence strategy for Queensland.
Information about the taskforce, its terms of reference and how to ‘share your story’ or provide a formal submission can be found at www.qld.gov.au/dfvtaskforce. More information about other opportunities to provide further input into the review will be made available on the website as work progresses. This is a great opportunity for you to share your ideas on how we can reduce and prevent domestic and family violence in Queensland.
